Easter 2024 In The Peak District

Easter 2024 in the Peak District

As spring awakens and lambing season brings new life to the countryside, there’s plenty to discover in the Peak District throughout Easter 2024.

Egg-cellent adventures

Everyone loves an Easter egg hunt. Many locations across the Peak District are hosting events, including Longshaw Estate, Carsington Water, and Ilam Park. Let the little ones loose to search for hidden treats amidst the beautiful scenery.

Farmtastic fun

Immerse yourselves in the wonder of the lambing season at Blaze Farm or Matlock Farm Park. Witness the miracle of life as newborn lambs frolic in the fields, and enjoy other farmyard activities like feeding animals and pony rides.

Step back in time

Embark on a magical journey at the Heights of Abraham. During Easter weekend, this historical site transforms into a wonderland fit for royalty, with activities and entertainment themed around Queen Victoria’s childhood visit.

Explore the depths

Delve into the fascinating world of underground caverns with a caving adventure. Experienced guides can lead you through the hidden passages of the Blue John Caves in Castleton, revealing breathtaking natural formations and a unique geological marvel.

Cycle the picturesque trails

Parsley Hay is a cyclist’s paradise. Situated on both the Tissington Trail and the High Peak Trail, it offers a variety of routes for all abilities. What’s more, it’s just a few miles from Wheeldon Trees. Explore the Tissington Trail’s gentle slopes and idyllic scenery, perfect for a family outing. Or, challenge yourself on the High Peak Trail, following the dismantled railway line through dramatic dales and charming villages. With bike hire readily available in Parsley Hay, you only need a sense of adventure to embark on a cycling journey through the Peak District.

Cultural delights

Immerse yourselves in the rich heritage of the Peak District by visiting historical landmarks like Chatsworth House, a magnificent stately home surrounded by beautiful gardens.

Chatsworth House transforms into a springtime wonderland during Easter 2024, offering a delightful escape for the whole family. From March 28th to April 14th, the farmyard comes alive with Easter egg hunts, animal encounters, and creative craft sessions. Get crafty in the Oak Barn, meet adorable farmyard animals, and embark on an exciting Easter egg hunt across the fields (included in the farmyard admission). Remember to wear sturdy shoes for the egg hunt, as the ground conditions might be muddy.

Easter falls on March 31st in 2024, and the school holidays run from March 29th to April 14th. To make the most of your Easter break, it’s advisable to book your accommodation and activities well in advance, especially during peak season.
