Wheeldon Trees reaches final in tourism awards. Everyone at Wheeldon Trees is delighted and honoured to be named as a finalist in the Peak District and Derbyshire Tourism Awards.

We are one of three finalists in the best self-catering accommodation category. Now in its third year, the awards showcase excellence and outstanding achievement across the area’s tourism and hospitality sectors.

Visit Peak District & Derbyshire, supported by the European Regional Development Fund, host the awards. The awards celebrate tourism businesses’ success and resilience whilst highlighting the sector’s vital contribution to the local economy.

Independently judged

Independent judges visited Wheeldon Trees this month and we now wait until the glittering awards ceremony in March 2023 when the winners will be announced. If we succeed, we then progress to the national VisitEngland Awards for Excellence 2023, representing the highest accolades in English tourism.

It’s been a very busy year here in Earl Sterndale. In our first full year of business, we’ve welcomed thousands of guests while at the same time working hard to improve facilities.

Constant improvement

So far in 2022, we have launched The Farmhouse and refurbished Priestley Cottage and the Long Room. In addition, we have installed new wifi and introduced a brand-new office for guests to use.

The work continues into December to make Wheeldon Trees the best self-catering accommodation in the region with two more cottage refurbishments about to launch. In the next week, we will be revealing makeovers on Nadin Cottage and Ollerenshaw Cottage. Both have new kitchens, bathrooms, flooring and soft furnishings.
