A Michelin Star is given for excellent cuisine. In addition to consistency throughout time and across the entire menu, they also consider the following. The quality of the ingredients, the harmony of flavours, the mastery of methods, the personality of the chef as expressed in their cuisine, and the personality of the kitchen staff. Michelin Inspectors are full-time employees and they make the decisions. Once several inspectors have eaten at a restaurant they then discuss their experiences as a team in order to make a final decision.
