1. High Peak Book Store and Café
Call u us biased, but our neighbours do a fine coffee and a huge selection of home-made cakes. You’ll find them just up the road from us on the A515 two miles from Buxton.
It’s the perfect place to spend a few relaxing hours, browsing their extensive and eclectic selection of books, choosing a card or gift or simply enjoying their locally roasted coffee.

2. Tagg Lane Dairy
A gelateria in the Peak District? Tagg Lane believes life is made just that little bit better by gelato and they should know – people travel literally miles to taste Tagg Lane’s award-winning ice-cream made with milk and cream from their herd of Jersey cows.
Gourmet coffee
We’re not just talking gelato, there’s also their coffee bar offering a variety of gourmet coffees from espressos to cafe lattes and mochas in which you’ll notice a difference in quality and taste which is hugely down to the freshness of their creamy Jersey milk.
Tagg Lane is a stone’s throw from Wheeldon Trees Cottages, just outside of the beautiful village of Monyash.
3. Hartington Farm Shop & Café
This family-run farm shop and café is located within the picturesque village of Hartington just a few miles from Wheeldon Trees Cottages.
The café serves homemade food including breakfast, lunch, snacks and of course, delicious homemade cakes. The team pride themselves in using only the finest locally-sourced ingredients wherever possible.
Local wines and beers
The shop is filled with locally-made gifts and fresh local food, including – milk, eggs, bread, meat, and produce. They also have a large selection of local wines and beers.
4. Hassop Station Café
Enjoy the relaxed surroundings of an old railway station at Hassop Station Café The café boasts several different areas inside and out. There are many large tables inside the cafe for big groups and they also have a cosy sofa area for weary walkers. Outside there’s a sun terrace on the old platform, overlooking the Monsal Trail so you can watch the world cycle by over lunch.
Breakfast served daily
Alongside coffee and cake, breakfast is served daily and for lunch there’s a huge list of specials, toasted bagels, toasties, sandwiches and burgers.
Hassop Station Café can be found in the village of Hassop near Bakewell.
5. Village Green Café in Eyam
Our final recommendation is the Village Green Café in Eyam. This indie cafe in the historicl Peak District village of Eyam is passionate about great coffee and quality food, made fresh to order from the best local ingredients. Enjoy their award-winning bakes, perfectly-brewed beans and homemade recipes in the beautiful village setting.
