Our reviews are as good as our views

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Wheeldon Trees Cottages. Mycock cottage was very comfortable and catered for our every need. The facilities are first class including bikes available to borrow. Correspondence was excellent with Hazel notifying us when cottage was ready on arrival day.Lovely walks to be had directly from cottage with maps to guide you on your way.Very generous welcome bag provided...Thank you for a most relaxing break

Great stay at Wheeldon Tree Cottages.I left a longer review on Trip Advisor, but thought I'd leave one here also.We had an amazing dog friendly stay (long weekend) at The Peak District, the cottages were really well equipped and on arrival we were welcomed with a bag of goodies to get us going (plus wine, milk and butter in the fridge). The location is very quiet, we went at a very quiet time and there were only 3 other cottages where it had people. There is also an honesty shop for anyone who is craving some chocolate. We will definitely come back next year when it's brighter and warmer. Our dog loved every moment of it!

We stayed in the Walkers Rest Cottage and it was perfect for two 'seniors'. Hazel had thought of everything that we might need. Being on one level was good - stairs can be a pain. We particularly enjoyed using the Joseph and Joseph kitchen accessories although the size of the television was a bit daunting - we are not used to such a huge screen.

Wheeldon Trees is a delightful complex of super comfortable cottages in a very pretty location. We stayed in Priestley cottage which was warm, comfortable and extremely well equipped. The Welcome Tote of goodies was very much appreciated. The cottages are within easy reach of a number of small towns - we especially liked Ashford in the Water and Bakewell. If you are lucky enough to stay on a Sunday, be sure to indulge in the roast dinner at the nearby Royal Oak pub. If you're keen to do some walks in the area, we would suggest popping into the High Peak bookstore and Cafe, which has a great selection of local guidebooks. The coffee is great too!

What an experience and amazing trip to the Peak District! Great to stay in a place whete dogs are allowed.|We stayed in Critchlow Cottage, as we went with our small dog (He said he had an amazing time too). It was a lovely weekend as it wasn't busy at all. A bonus!|The day we checked in, Hazel messaged to tell us the cottage was ready for us at 12pm, which was before the check in time.. a lovely touch. On arrival (check in was contactless) that evening we were welcomed to the cottage with the heating and Google Home playing soothing music - made us feel so homely right away.|There was a welcome bag which was brilliant, there were everything you need to get you started (box of tea bags, bag of coffee, biscuits, sweets, eggs...milk, butter and wine in the fridge). Never had this with any other cottage stay.||There is another a honesty shop, so if you're feeling a bit peckish... its great for that. In the same room, there are also washing machines and dryers for if you need it.||Noticed they also have an EV charge on site!|There is also a book in the cottage showing you different walking routes - sadly we didnt have enough time as we only stayed 2 nights. But we said we'll definitely come back next year as the hospitality and experience is one of a kind.|

Accommodation of the highest standard. We visited for a family gathering and booked 4 cottages. Everything was to the highest standards, very comfortable and welcoming. It was great to have extra space to allow us to share evening meals all together.
The setting is wonderful too and we did a lovely walk from the cottages. A peaceful, beautiful place that we will return to.

Peak accomodation in the Peaks, a real gem! These cottages (including a farmhouse!) are a real gem. The location in the beautiful landscape of the Peaks is magnificent! On the map it might seem somewhat remote, but in practice you can get anywhere with ease. What strikes you when you visit is the superb attention to detail the owners put into these luxury cottages. Everything we could have wanted for was present, available, and in perfect condition. The owner’s striving for perfection is also apparent in the printed signs throughout the complex and in the cottages. They’ve a friendly tone of voice and are in the same fonts and colours the website is in. Wheeldon Trees Cottages makes us want to come back and tell our friends about it!

Love this place This is our 3rd visit (hopefully tells you a lot 🙂 )
It's an amazing place. Beautiful cottages in an idyllic area.
We travel with our dog who has a great time - she can be let straight outside when needed as there is a small enclosed garden, leading on to a large area.
The cottages are really well equipped and there's an honesty shop with extra bits which is really good for if you forget essentials.
Totally relaxing. Thank you Steve and Hazel.

We rate this 6/5! We were touring around the UK for 3 weeks and our 3 night stay here was the highlight for us.We stayed in the Mycock Cottage which was perfect for 2 adults and 1 child. We loved the separate games room which has its own toilet and kitchen, and the laundry and little shop concept were fabulous. The hosts were great and provide information with humorous touches all around the property so you're not left guessing. As a bonus, the goody bag on arrival was amazing and made us feel so welcome.

lovely, safe and peaceful place to rest and recharge We went on annual family holidays to Wheeldon Trees until about three years ago by which time the adapted cottage which we had loved could no longer meet my disabled partner's specific needs. When I had the chance for three days away on my own, I was delighted to return. The cottages are so homely and comfortable; the scenery is beautiful with glorious walks from the door; everything is set up to create a happy and relaxing holiday (the games room, the electric bikes, the honesty shop, the EV charger). It's just a lovely, safe and peaceful place to rest and recharge. I'm sure I'll be back. Thank you.

Idyllic! I cannot say how thrilled we were to have found Wheeldon Trees Cottages! As regular visitors to Buxton we'd been searching for a long time for a really comfortable rural holiday cottage. All our boxes are now not only ticked but surpassed!
Sublimely peaceful location, stunning views, superbly appointed cottage equipped to the highest of standards - think Joseph Joseph - with literally everything you could possibly need, run by the truly professional and enthusiastic dream team - Steve and Hazel.
We shall be returning next year, and the next ❤️

Gorgeous spot in Peaks: the views, the walks and climbs right outside your door, the privacy. Great hosts. Lots of amenities including bikes and game room for all cottage guests. The large, wonderfully redecorated FARMHOUSE we stayed in with 3 others is now my favorite vacation rental anywhere.

Wheeldon Trees Cottages is in a beautiful, quiet location of outstanding natural beauty. We stayed in Walker’s Rest, a large spacious cottage laid out on the ground floor. It was well equipped with a thoughtfully put together welcome pack. The owners have their own “honesty shop” on site, which we used to stock up on nice food, such as granola, chocolates, ice cream and one night we had a fish pie. Yum! There were numerous walks from the front door, with the routes set out on a pack of easy to follow laminated cards. The award winning pub, The Royal Oak is within a 40 minute walk and we had a couple of nice meals there. Buxton and Bakewell are both within a 15 minute car journey. Both have walks from the town centre, as well as plenty of interesting shops and places to eat. The Palace Gardens in Buxton is of interest; we enjoyed browsing the artisan shops, as well as walking in the gardens themselves. Don’t discount going to the Buxton Opera House, as there is an eclectic mix of live events and we were lucky enough to see Elvis Costello. Chatsworth is 30 minutes away, which is a majestic site and has large, scenic gardens.

A great week spent in Nadin Cottage. Enough space to be comfortable for a family of 4 adults in a beautiful quiet setting. Lots to do in the area - we didn't get to all the places we wanted to visit, so we'll be going back in the near future. Shame the pub in Earl Sterndale has gone, but the Pack Horse in Crowdecote and the Royal Oak at Hurdlow are only a few minutes drive away and fed us well.Highly recommended.

What a great find! First time at Wheeldon Cottages. We stayed in Priestley Cottage for a few days. Couldn't have been happier with it. We had everything we could have needed. The welcome package was a lovely touch! The area around was so peaceful with beautiful scenery, and ideally placed to access all the Peak District. Our grandson loved the games room. Wheeldon Trees' farmhouse is set in a fabulous quiet location* with lovely views and hikes, both easy and challenging. The house is spacious, comfortable, beautifully renovated while retaining its historic character. Hazel and her staff were very responsive to our few needs and questions. The game room kept us busy when we weren't hiking or dining nearby.*As long as you are comfortable with a brief narrow road in the hills

Came for a few days break in mid June. We had a lovely stay and luckily the weather was great! The rooms we clean and comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked with necessary equipment. We particularly enjoyed the 'extra' touches. The shop of necessities and the honesty box payment system was really handy, especially with two little ones! The playroom had a range of toys for all ages so my children could play with suitable toys/watch films etc and let mum and dad actually play a game of pool.We needed a bed frame for our youngest as we forgot to request one on booking and after a quick email to the owners, they allowed us access into the store room to get one rather then having to wait for them to come the next day. Thank you.Overall, a lovely stay. Hopefully we will be back!

Recently stayed at Wheeldon after a break of a few years & for the first time since it has been under new ownership. As to expected there have been a few changes, mostly very positive. Some cottages have been revamped, although the one we stayed in had not been yet. Overall it is still an excellent place to stay & we would not hesitate to highly recommend it||One big difference is that unlike the previous owners, the new ones don’t live at Wheeldon themselves; during our stay we saw them very briefly just once. What appears (to us as guests) to be an arm’s length approach to running the property is perfectly fine, but in our view guest / public relations could be greatly enhanced by the owners being more visible – simply to introduce themselves to new guests or welcome back returning ones would make the experience more personal
