Additionally, our dedicated dog meadow provides a safe and enjoyable space for your dog to play.

The Peak District is a popular destination for dog owners, and dogs are generally welcomed in most areas of the countryside, including the National Trust’s properties in Kinder, Edale, and the High Peak.

Walk of the Month – Baslow Edge to Curbar Gap

For a memorable dog walk, consider the scenic route from Baslow Edge to Curbar Gap and back. Begin your journey by parking on School Lane and ascending Bar Road, which eventually transitions into a footpath. As you and your furry companion ascend through the wooded terrain, you’ll be rewarded with stunning vistas of the valley below and the iconic Chatsworth House.

Continue your ascent and follow the right fork towards Wellington’s monument, a historic landmark commemorating the Duke of Wellington’s victory at Waterloo. From there, retrace your steps slightly and head towards the Eagle Stone, then follow the path towards Curbar Gap. For even more breathtaking views, consider walking across the top of Baslow Edge.

If you need a break, head to the car park at Curbar Gap and indulge in refreshments and treats for both you and your canine companion at Jolly’s, a popular local van. After your pit stop, descend Clodhall Lane in the direction of Curbar and follow the path to the left or right, depending on your preference, to return to Baslow. The estimated walking time is approximately two hours, covering a distance of four miles. Convenient parking is available on School Lane near Bar Road.
