In 2025 we celebrate the 250th birthday of Jane Austen - so what exactly is…
What’s happening in the Peaks?
It feels like forever since we’ve checked in, so, what’s been happening here in the Peaks?
The year kicked off with a bang – or rather, a very long flight to New Zealand. We celebrated Steve’s birthday in style with an incredible adventure through the land of the long white cloud. It was breathtakingly beautiful, and we can’t wait to return someday. Funnily enough, it reminded us a lot of the Peak District – just with a bit more sunshine in January!
Our children continue to spread their wings. We’re bursting with pride for Steve’s two eldest serving in the Armed Forces, and his youngest who just graduated from Cardiff University. He’s off to conquer the slopes of Japan this winter. My eldest is thriving at Salford University, studying broadcast journalism, while my youngest has been a fantastic help around Wheeldon this summer.
This year hasn’t been without its challenges. I spent a difficult time caring for Mum as she battled Parkinson’s. If you’ve noticed a quieter period from us, that’s why. She sadly died in June.
Wedding at Wheeldon
June saw the most amazing wedding at Wheeldon Trees. Huge congratulations to Sarah and Ben who had a magical weekend which included a morning run up High Wheeldon on the day of the wedding! To celebrate our own second wedding anniversary (can you believe it is two years since we married at Wheeldon?), we had an amazing night seeing Adele in Munich – a truly unforgettable experience.
A massive thank you to our incredible team. Wheeldon Trees simply wouldn’t be the same without them. Your hard work and dedication mean the world to us.
And finally, to our wonderful guests: thank you for choosing Wheeldon Trees. It’s such a joy to welcome back familiar faces and create new memories with everyone. Your support is amazing.
We can’t wait to share more adventures with you soon!
