If you’d told me a few months ago we would be planning our own wedding, I definitely wouldn’t have believed you.

Steve and I have been happily together for nearly a decade. We love our life in Derbyshire and the purchase of Wheeldon Trees and all it brings in terms of meeting new people, renovating gorgeous buildings and getting inspired by fabulous interior design have been the icing on the cake.

Now in my 50^th year, it’s time to bring together five children of varying ages and our closest friends and relatives for a weekend of celebrations in the Peak District National Park.

Star of the show

Wheeldon Trees will be the star of the show. When you have 10 stunning cottages and a view of High Wheeldon, Chrome Hills and the Dragon’s Back on your cottage doorstep it’s difficult to find a more romantic or more perfect location. Our plan is to bring together our close friends and family for a celebration which stretches across the weekend.

Perfect wedding venue

When we purchased Wheeldon Trees we always thought it would be the perfect wedding venue. In the last few months, prior to any proposal, we had already spoken to local people working in the wedding industry. We wanted their advice and guidance before making any decisions to offer Wheeldon Trees to couples. If the last few years have taught us anything, it’s that family celebrations are worth grasping onto. Making memories is key to life. At Wheeldon Trees we will be able to offer our couples exclusive use of our venue. Over a long weekend from Friday morning to Monday morning families can come together wherever they live. Not just for one day, but for a memorable long weekend of celebrations.

Share the journey

The plan is for us to marry next summer – now Steve’s proposed there is definitely no hanging around! We’ve decided to share the journey of our wedding. We want to inspire future couples looking for the perfect Peak District wedding. We will be sharing our suppliers and plans and showing you how you can take one venue and create your own perfect wedding in your own unique style.

As for the dress? I’m looking to Carrie Bradshaw and the forthcoming HBO Sex and the City series ‘And Just Like That’ for inspiration. Watch this space for wedding and fashion updates.
